How does the SkinGenesis Wart Removal Treatment work?

We use our powerful Variable Pulsed Light IPL equipment to target just one or 2 warts.  The high energy creates a thermal shock deep inside the wart causing the casing to break. This in turn causes the bodys immune system to respond and create antibodies that will have an antiviral effect on all warts on the body.

Normally only 2 or 3 treatments are required and the body should be totally free of warts within 6 months.

The benefits of this approach will be obvious to people who have several warts, some of which may be difficult to access for more common treatments.


Does Wart Removal hurt?

You should find the treatment quite tolerable. When the pulse of light is emitted there is a sharp sensation of a hot pinprick which quickly subsides.  Most people find that this treatment is very quick and less unpleasant and traumatic than alternative treatments. Another benefit is that as the skin is not broken during the treatment, there is no risk of infection, scabbing or scarring.


Do I need time off afterwards to recover from Wart Removal?

You should not need any recovery time and will be able to carry on with your normal day straight after your treatment appointment.  Occasionally, in circumstances where the treated area is exceptionally red, topical cooling may be required. Normally clients should expect the treated area to be slightly red for about an hour after treatment although in some circumstances the redness may last for up to 24 hours.


How many Wart removal treatments will I need before the warts go away?

We normally advise clients to expect to come for 2 or 3 treatments at 4 weekly intervals. The warts will change colour within 2 months following the initial treatment and then gradually disappear.

Are there any reasons you may not be able to treat my warts?

We won't be able to treat you if you are pregnant, have epilepsy or suffer from light induced skin rashes.  The treatment is only suitable for light skin colours.

The treatment depends on an adequate response from the body's immune systems. Any deficiency in the autoimmune system will affect the success of this treatment.

You will be asked to avoid suntans while on your course of treatments and to avoid prolonged exposure to strong sunlight for 2 weeks before and after treatment.


What are the risks?

Some clients will find the treatment uncomfortable.  Because of the high energies required there is a risk of blistering of the treated area. The risk is very small however and is further reduced by effective cooling of the treated area.  In rare circumstances clients have experienced short term swelling of the treated area.
