Pigmentation blemishes started fading fast with Dermamelan

Being of Asian origin my skin is naturally dark and any marks on my skin can be more noticeable, but after being pregnant I started to notice dark patches all over my skin. My doctor said it was due to hormones and was called melasma. There was nothing she could do to help me saying that it was a natural process that was quite common after having a baby.  This didn't make me feel any better - they were mostly on my face and in truth they were making me feel terribly self-conscious.

I began researching ways of removing these pigmentation blemishes and started dreaming of a clear and even complexion. I bought and tested a number of bleaching creams but none of them were any good, and then a friend recommended SkinGenesis.

The great thing was they offered a free consultation, and they told me about the various alternatives including Intense Pulse Light and Amelan (now called Dermamelan). Due to the darkness of my natural skin I was advised that IPL would not be suitable and they recommended Dermamelan (a proven pigmentation suppressing treatment).  The explanation of how it worked and what it could do for me all made sense, so I booked the Dermamelan treatment.  I started to get excited about getting rid of the spots and not having to cover up with make up and I wanted to start straight away but the nurse insisted I had time to go home and think about it before committing myself.

The process itself was simple, if a little strange.   The nurse applied a yellow coloured masque which I had to leave on for several hours.  This meant going home with the Dermamelan masque on and it's a strange pale mustard colour!  Luckily my cousin was able to park outside the clinic and take me home.  I'm not sure I would have wanted to take the bus looking like that!

I was given strict instructions as to how long to leave it on, and how to carefully wash it off at home.  The nurse was very kind and gave me her personal mobile number in case I had any concerns or questions when I was at home. Before I left the clinic I was also given some special moisturiser and sun block to apply as soon as the masque was washed off.  I was warned that the skin could be red and a bit itchy.  There was also the risk of some flaking but the moisturiser helped enormously and I really didn't have a problem.  I went back to the clinic two days later so that the nurse could assess the treated area and she wrote down a home regime for me to follow with the Amelan cream she gave me.  

It is now 3 months since I had the treatment at SkinGenesis and Ive been back to the clinic a couple of times so that the nurse can monitor my progress.  The spots have faded tremendously. I'm still using the Dermamelan cream, moisturiser and sunblock and my skin is smooth and rejuvenated.  Seeing the photographs of how I looked before the treatment is just amazing!  I was very impressed with the advice and aftercare I was given and all I can say is Thank you SkinGenesis.
