Treatment Type - Dermamelan Depigmentation Treatment.

Dermamelan Depigmentation Treatment to reduce hyperpigmentation blemishes including melasma/chloasma and lentigo.

Suitability for Dermamelan.

Suitable for males and females over the age of 16, with any skin type, looking to remove hyperpigmentation blemishes and to achieve a clear even complexion.

Aims of the Dermamelan Treatment

To achieve a clear even complexion:

• Removal of unwanted pigmentation through skin rejuvenation

• Interruption of melanin production in affected areas

Dermamelan Treatment Overview

The affected area is cleansed before the application of a degreasing solution.

The nurse will then apply a mustard coloured facemask (Dermamelan Mask) which the client goes home with.

The nurse will advise how long the mask should be left on but this will be in the range of 8 to 12 hours.

At the specified time, at home, the client must very gently wash the mask off using cold water and apply the Hydra-Vital Hydrating Mask, B5 serum, Solar Moisturiser SPF30 and Sun Block SPF 50 (daylight hours only).

The client will continue to attend the clinic at regular intervals to monitor progress and make adjustments to the at home treatments. (Dermamelan Maintenance Cream, Sun Block SPF 50).

Dermamelan Recovery Time

For up to 8 weeks after treatment the skin will turn red, especially in lighter skin types. The skin will be very sore, very flakey and very tight es[ecially around the upper lip and chin.  To relieve this discomfort the client will apply the Hydra-Vital Hydrating Mask, B5 Serum, Solar Moisturiser SPF30  as often as needed.

Typical Dermamelan Course Duration

The face mask is applied only once.  At home application of Dermamelan Maintenance cream will continue for 9 months. The daily use of Sun Block SPF50 (To be applied every 2 hours when outdoors) is essential.

Dermamelan Cost

Consultation, free of charge.

The treatment price (face only) is £860 and includes an initial supply of Dermamelan Treatment Cream, Hydra-Vital hydrating mask, Delicate Cleanser, B5 Serum, Solar Moisturiser SPF30, Sun block SPF 50 - total value over £370 - for use by the client at home (obligatory).

Contra Indications for Dermamelan Treatment

Clients must obtain written confirmation from their GP or Dermatologist that the hyperpigmentation seen does not have abnormal changes or signs of malignancy. The treatment cannot go ahead without this written confirmation.

The treatment cannot be carried out if the affected area has been treated with glycolic acid within the previous week.

Post-treatment Side Effects

Clients will find the treatment will cause dryness, flaking and irritability, especially during the recovery period.

There are no long-term adverse side effects.

Dermamelan Maintenance

Sunscreen SPF 50 must be applied on a daily basis even during the winter months.  In the summer months if you expose your skin to longer periods of sunshine, e.g. a day in the garden, the Dermamelan Maintenance Cream must be applied that evening.  On holiday in a sunny climate, Dermamelan Maintenance Cream must be applied every evening.
