Treatment Type - Dermamelan Depigmentation Treatment.

Dermamelan Depigmentation Treatment to reduce hyperpigmentation blemishes including melasma/chloasma and lentigo.

Suitability for Dermamelan.

Suitable for males and females over the age of 16, with any skin type, looking to remove hyperpigmentation blemishes and to achieve a clear even complexion.

Aims of the Dermamelan Treatment

To achieve a clear even complexion:

• Removal of unwanted pigmentation through skin rejuvenation

• Interruption of melanin production in affected areas

Dermamelan Treatment Overview

The affected area is cleansed before the application of a degreasing solution.

The nurse will then apply a mustard coloured facemask (Dermamelan Mask) which the client goes home with.

The nurse will advise how long the mask should be left on but this will be in the range of 8 to 12 hours.

At the specified time, at home, the client must very gently wash the mask off using cold water and apply the Hydra-Vital Hydrating Mask, Hydra-Vital Factor K Moisturising Cream, and Sun Block (daylight hours only).

The nurse will arrange follow up with the client 48 hours after treatment to assess the skin.

The client will continue to attend the clinic at regular intervals to monitor progress and make adjustments to the at home treatments. (Dermamelan Maintenance Cream).

Dermamelan Recovery Time

During the first week after treatment the skin will turn red, especially in lighter skin types.  In some cases redness may persist for longer periods.  From time to time the client may also experience an itching feeling and some burning or tightness on the face.  To relieve this discomfort the client will apply the Hydra-Vital Factor K Cream and Hydra-Vital Hydrating Mask.

Flaking will occur between the second and third days.  In this case it is advisable to apply the Hydra-Vital Factor K Cream, repeating every 2 hours on the day when the flaking is most intense, and the Hydra-Vital Hydrating Mask once a day in the evening.

After the third and fourth days, the skin begins to present a healthy and luminous aspect.  Visual results are dependent on the length of time the client has had their hyperpigmentation.

Typical Dermamelan Course Duration

The face mask is applied only once.  At home application of Dermamelan Maintenance cream will continue for some time until final results are seen. The daily use of Moisturising Sunscreen is essential.

Consultation, free of charge.

The treatment price (face only) is £815 and includes an initial supply of Dermamelan Treatment, Hydra-Vital Factor K, Hydra-Vital Hydrating Mask, Cleansing Milk and Moisturising Sunscreen for use by the client at home (obligatory).

Contra Indications for Dermamelan Treatment

Clients must obtain written confirmation from their GP or Dermatologist that the hyperpigmentation to be treated is not abnormal or malignant. The treatment cannot go ahead without this written confirmation.

The treatment cannot be carried out if the affected area has been treated with glycolic acid within the previous week.

Dermamelan Risks

Some clients will find the treatment may cause dryness, flaking and irritability, especially during the recovery period.

There are no long-term adverse side effects.

Dermamelan Maintenance

Sunscreen SPF 60 must be applied on a daily basis even during the winter months.  In the summer months if you expose your skin to longer periods of sunshine, e.g. a day in the garden, the Dermamelan Maintenance Cream must be applied that evening.  On holiday in a sunny climate, Dermamelan Maintenance Cream must be applied every evening.
