SkinGym™ Anti Ageing Skin Rejuvenation Programme - Anita's Story |
A professional lady describes how the exclusive SkinGym™ Anti Ageing Skin Rejuvenation programme is working for herI am an Executive Coach, trainer and University lecturer. I work with some impressive clients in the This year saw my 49th birthday, which means that next year is the big 5-0. In no way am I trying to recapture my youth, but I do want to look good for my age. I just want to look healthy and energised. You know the look you have when you come back from holiday and everyone says “you look well”. A friend recommended SkinGym™ by SkinGenesis, and so I went along to the
Having booked my first treatment (number one of six), Deborah gave me a Dermaquest Skin Therapy skin care kit to “balance” my skin. She explained how to use it and I started using it straight away. When using the products, at first my skin felt a little ” tingly” and the skin around my eyes felt a little tight. I mentioned this to Deborah who explained that the “tingly” feeling was quite normal and she recommended an eye cream for me, A&M Eye Recovery, which is wonderful. Deborah also gave me a pack of Advanced Nutrition Programme vitamin and mineral supplements, which I started to take right away. I had my first SkinGym™ treatment at the end of October. It takes about an hour from start to finish. My skin was thoroughly cleansed then primed (which feels warm and tingly) before having a peptide peel, microdermabrasion, intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy and ultra-sonic skin toning. I have to say that I was a little nervous of the IPL therapy as I had read on the internet that it can be quite painful. Actually it wasn’t. It was a little uncomfortable but the IPL session is very quick. The clinicians have the treatment themselves (you can tell by their skin!) and are highly qualified and experienced, so they are very thorough but very quick, which means that any discomfort is minimised. I was going to a meeting a little later and was concerned about makeup. Deborah recommended the Jane Iredale skin care makeup range and I was able to try the products at the clinic before leaving. My skin felt fantastic. Deborah had explained that I may get some skin peeling after the treatments. I did get some slight peeling in a couple of areas, but nothing noticeable to anyone else. I continued to use the Dermaquest Skin Therapy skin balancing kit, morning and night. My next treatment was a week later and the process was the same as the first treatment. Again I left feeling wonderful and glowing with my Jane Iredale makeup on ready to go to a meeting. A couple of friends had already commented on how well I looked, which was great as I had told no one about having the SkinGym™ treatments. My 3rd treatment was a little different as this time I had a Pumpkin Peel. I do have some allergies so Deborah had done a patch test when we first met to ensure that I would be OK with the treatments and the products. The Pumpkin Peel smells fantastic. As it’s applied the product seems to warm up and feels very tingly. Deborah asked me on a scale of one to ten how warm and tingly it felt, my answer…about an eight. It soon started to cool down and was followed with a cooling gel, which felt amazing, ready for my IPL treatment. This time the IPL was much less uncomfortable so I asked Deborah if she had turned the machine down. She explained that she hadn’t, it was just that I was getting more used to it. During the following two weeks I had my next two sessions, one with a peptide peel and one with a pumpkin peel. My skin had started to feel quite tight and I felt that it needed more moisture. I discussed this with Deborah who recommended that I go on to the Age Management Kit (which I am still using), which is fantastic. For those of you who think “I don’t have time to use all those products” it literally takes me a couple of minutes, morning and night. I am a very busy person and like you don’t have time to spend hours in front of a mirror. The products are not cheap but are very effective and last for ages, so they are certainly value for money. I asked Deborah how much to use and she explained “just one pump” of each product. When you see how much that is, there is a tendency to want to add a couple more pumps. You don’t need it, one pump really is enough.
This is me in November 2009 halfway through the programme. I'm much happier with this picture because you can see such a difference. I have just one more session to go. The cleanliness and professionalism of the clinics and staff is amazing. Attention to hygiene is second to none and I have to say that it is much more impressive than any hospital or medical establishment I have ever visited. Most of the staff are qualified nurses, some with specialist burns unit experience and expertise, hence their focus on hygiene. I nearly forgot to add the side effects. The broken veins by my nose have just about gone. For me this one is a “biggie” … at my age you start to get a few unwanted (and in my view unsightly) facial hairs, for me it’s been particularly on my chin. They have gone, and more importantly appear to have no intention of returning, which is great. All in all value for money? You bet, I can thoroughly recommend it. I can confirm that I am not being paid for this, but wanted to write about my experience because I have been so impressed with the treatments, the products and particularly the staff at SkinGenesis.
