The IPL generates systemic antiviral antibodies to remove all warts & veruccas with a minimal risk of scarring or secondary infection. SkinGenesis are a private skin clinic, based in the north of the UK (Leeds & Manchester) and opening in London in 2005 with an expansion plan to cover the rest of teh UK.

***More about wart removal***

A small number of warts (usually about two) is selected. The warts are then treated using a series of very high-energy Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatments. IPL is the very latest treatment for the removal of warts in the skin. The high energy creates a thermal shock deep inside the wart causing the casing to break. This in turn causes the body’s immune system to respond and create antibodies that will have an antiviral effect on all warts on the body. Normally only 2 or 3 treatments are required and the body should be totally free of warts within 6 months.

Most clients find the treatment quite tolerable. When the light is emitted there is a sharp sensation of a hot pinprick. IPL is very quick and less unpleasant and traumatic than alternative treatments. As the skin is not broken during the treatment there is no risk of infection, scabbing or scarring. IPL is suitable for any area of skin.

Notes to Editors:

* What is an Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment?

Eye protection is worn for the duration of the procedure.  The area to be treated is covered in a special optical gel.  The gel will keep the area cool while enabling the transmission of light into the skin.  A light applicator is pressed against the skin and a short pulse of highenergy light is emitted treating all blemishes in an area of 5cm2.  The applicator is then moved to an adjacent area and the process is repeated until all the area has been treated.  The gel is then removed and aloe vera is applied to the treated area.  In some circumstances topical cooling may be applied to the treated area.

Suitability:
Suitable for males and females of any age, skin type or skin colour looking to remove the incidence and severity of scarring, and achieve a smooth skin free of surface irregularities and a clear even complexion.
