In June 1999 Elliot Isaacs , a Physiology & Pharmacology graduate of the renowned Leeds University medical department, started the Pangaea Company. His immediate interest was in thread veins and broken capillaries which plague at least 50% of women and for which there was no cosmetic treatment. Having little money to put his own biochemistry knowledge into action, he began working with colleagues in the US to produce a pharmaceutical grade vitamin K1 cream - the formulation he had earmarked as likely to be effective. It became a hot seller overnight and turned into one of those sales frenzies after several magazines reported incredible results.

Building on their moderate financial success, Pangaea was able to purchase their own labs and recruit their own staff to research in their own way and in their own time (Pangaea are now Europe’s leading dermaceutical company). The result, after 18 months was the Medik8@ Red Alert - now known as the world's best selling thread vein specific cream. Pangaea now began to appear on the 'radar screens' of the major skin care manufacturers and retailers alike. Their products can be found in 'Groom' (Selfridges, London ), Wigmore Medical ( London ), Fenwick (Brent Cross and Bond Street , London), and registered skin clinics like SkinGenesis (Leeds, Manchester and Chester ).

Their next project was the expansion of the entire Medik8 range. Focused on clinically proven technologies, pharmaceutical grade ingredients and never skimping on potency or the number of co-acting actives, all products are formulated using the 4 key cornerstones of the Medik8 philosophy.

Medik8 now consists of over 30 advanced skincare products, hailed a ‘must-have’ line-up by celebrities such as Halle Berry , Donna Air and celebrity make-up artist John Gustafson. The dermaceutical formulas are split into 3 categories ‘cleansing’, ‘injection-free’ and ‘problem solving skincare,’ helping with problems such as thread veins, age spots and skin firmness.
